Run route for Wednesday, July 19

From Randy:

So much like last Wednesday, temps at start time tonight will be in the 90s, with a heat index of over 100. Yes, you have to be crazy to run in this heat, but just remember, it could be 10 degrees with a wind chill factor of -5. Which would bring you out to run? We’ll do the familiar shady 4 mile route down Summit St to 63rd St and back the Trolley Trail. We have to stay in the shade to have any hope to survive. Also remember, the pace is SLOW tonight!

Wednesday’s route for July 12th

From Randy:

So is anyone else crazy enough to try to run/walk tonight in this heat? There is a heat advisory until 7:00 PM today. Temps at start time should be in the mid-90’s, with the heat index around 100 degrees. I will be there, and I’ve picked a shady route down Belleview to the Trolley Trail and back. My advice to you is to drink plenty of water, before, during, and after you run/walk. And just go slow. Your goal should not be speed, but just to finish.

Route for Wednesday, June 28th

Tonight’s Loose Park run takes us through the heart of Westport, past the Nelson Atkins and the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival.  Begin by turning right at the Loose Park rose gardens, then left (north) on Wornall.  Stay with Wornall across Brush Creek,   Left on 43rd briefly, then right on Bridger (just past the fire station).  At Westport Road, turn right.  Go past 303 and the church, then turn right on 40th St.  Right on Oak, go past the Nelson and UMKC.  For the shorter option (about 4 miles), turn right on 51st back to Loose Park.  Or turn right on 55th for 5 miles.  And whether you run or walk, see you tonight for Random Acts of Pride!
