Get set to sparkle and shimmer this Wednesday night! If it glows, glitters, reflects, twinkles, wear it to Mill Creek Park on October 25. The sun sets right at the start of our meetup, so let’s have some fun about a week before Halloween. Jon will have some glowy stuff to pass out too, but the more you bring, the better!
It’s going to be beautiful running weather tonight! Around 70 degrees. Don’t forget to wear your lights! I can’t get the Gmap-pedimeter to work on my computer today, so I can’t post the route. However, we will go north on Pennsylvania around the lake and south on Wyandotte, with an option to do the Liberty Memorial for those feeling ambitious. I’ll tell you more tonight!
Tonight we kick off our first fall meetup of the year at Mill Creek Park! We meet at the parking lot across from the Levee Bar and Grill, near 43rd and Main Street (by Gilda’s Club). Each Wednesday until we spring forward, we’ll be at the same spot. Here’s the route info from Randy:
Temps should be in the mid 60’s at start time. We will do the Mill Creek route, which we also do from Loose Park, that takes us down Rockhill and the UMKC steps over to Loose Park and then down Sunset to the Plaza and back to Mill Creek Park. Total mileage is 5 but you can cut it down to 4 miles if you’d like.
Fall means cooler weather and a chance to get your hands on a long sleeve KC Frontrunners shirt! Online ordering is active now for $27.72 (might be a few dollars more for larger sizes). Delivery is free at upcoming run/walk meetups, probably in late October/early November. Sizing info is available on the order page, and the supplier says the shirts run somewhat larger than typical. Keep in mind you’ll likely be layering over/under this shirt too depending on the KC weather.
It should be in the upper 60’s around start time – the perfect running weather! For our last meeting at Loose Park, we’ll run around the park and south on Pennsylvania to 63rd St, then over to Ward Parkway, then north to Westover to Wyandotte to 51st St and back to the park. The full route is 4.8 miles.
