About Us

The Kansas City Frontrunners and Walkers is a group dedicated to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community and friends.  Our mission is to promote good health through running, walking, and club events in a supportive running and walking community. Some members participate to get in a good jog a couple of times a week – while others show up to train for a competitive event. Most of us are really here because we love the social aspect of the group!

Whether you’re a walker, running novice, or a seasoned marathoner, we welcome people of all abilities and interests. So come and join us on one of our twice weekly meetups.  Check our schedule because another event is always coming right up!

We are a member of the International Front Runners, a world-wide network of gay and lesbian running and walking clubs.  The name “Frontrunners” was inspired by Patricia Nell Warren’s novel The Front Runner, a story about the relationship between an ex-Marine track coach and his Olympic athlete training for the 1976 Olympic Games.
